Psychological Testing & Evaluation

Find Diagnostic Clarity and a More Informed Path Forward

When symptoms overlap, a diagnosis feels unclear, or treatment is not progressing as expected, a comprehensive psychological evaluation can help clarify what may be contributing to your symptoms and which treatment approach may be most helpful.

At SunCloud Health, psychological testing and evaluation combine clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and evidence-based psychometric assessments. The goal is to develop a fuller understanding of your symptoms, strengths, patterns, and treatment needs—not simply assign a diagnosis.

When to Consider Psychological Testing

Psychological testing may be appropriate when you or your treatment team are looking for greater diagnostic clarity, trying to better understand persistent or complex symptoms, or determining why treatment has not produced the progress you expected.

Psychological evaluations may help assess concerns related to:

  • ADHD
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety and phobias
  • Depressive disorders
  • Bipolar disorders
  • Borderline and other personality disorders
  • Alcohol and substance use disorders
  • Psychotic or paranoid disorders

These are the areas included within the scope of SunCloud Health’s psychological testing service.

How Psychological Testing Supports Treatment Planning

A psychological evaluation can provide a deeper understanding of what is happening, why certain symptoms or patterns may be occurring, and how that information can guide treatment moving forward.

For patients, families, and treatment teams, the results can help create a more informed path forward by identifying areas of concern, clarifying diagnoses when appropriate, and providing recommendations that can be incorporated into ongoing care.

What to Expect During a Psychological Evaluation

The psychological testing process typically includes four steps:

  1. Clinical Interview
You’ll meet with a clinician to discuss your concerns, history, goals, and the questions you hope the evaluation will answer.
  2. Additional Interview and Information Gathering
When needed, the clinician will gather additional information to create a more complete clinical picture.
  3. Psychological Testing Session
You’ll complete selected psychometric assessments based on your individual needs and referral questions.
  4. Feedback Session
Your clinician will review the findings with you, answer questions, and discuss what the results may mean for your treatment.

Individual sessions are generally about
one to two hours, and the full evaluation process typically takes approximately four weeks from beginning to completion. Testing sessions are conducted in person, while interview appointments may be completed by Zoom.

Your Psychological Evaluation Report

Following your evaluation, you will receive a comprehensive written report summarizing the findings and clinical recommendations.

Results are also reviewed during your feedback session, giving you an opportunity to ask questions and better understand how the information may apply to your care. The report is provided electronically and shared with your SunCloud treatment team through your medical record.

What Psychological Testing at SunCloud Health Does Not Include

SunCloud Health’s psychological testing service is focused on diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. It does not currently include neuropsychological, academic, or learning-disorder testing, and evaluations are not intended for use in legal matters.

Testing through this service does not assess:

  • Academic or learning disorders

  • Primary sensory processing disorders
  • Language disorders
  • Visuospatial disorders
  • Primary motor disorders
  • Dementias or memory disorders
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • The impact of medical conditions such as strokes or heart attacks

A Collaborative Psychological Assessment Process

Before beginning an evaluation, it can be helpful to consider two questions:

What are the biggest questions I hope this evaluation answers?

If this assessment were especially helpful, what would I understand about myself that I do not understand today?

These questions can help shape a personalized psychological evaluation and keep the process focused on what matters most to you.
