Coffey, MD, MS, is a distinguished Professor and Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She also serves as Chief of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 2017 and Director of the UHealth Tourette Center of Excellence since 2019. Dr. Coffey is internationally recognized for her expertise in tics, Tourette Syndrome, and related disorders such as ADHD and OCD. Before joining the University of Miami, she held significant positions at prestigious institutions like Harvard Medical School, McLean Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her research focuses on the clinical course, psychiatric comorbidity, phenomenology, and novel treatments of Tourette’s Disorder, and she has authored over 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters. Dr. Coffey’s educational background includes a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from Tufts University School of Medicine and psychoanalytic training from the Boston Psychoanalytic Society. She has been honored by the Tourette Association of America for her extensive work and dedication to improving the quality of life for individuals with Tourette Syndrome and related disorders.
