Matteson Adolescent Residential Doctor

Dr. Julie Land is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist and a proud native of the south side of Chicago. She studied medicine at The University of Illinois in Rockford and she completed her adult psychiatry training at The University of Chicago. She then returned to the University of Illinois to complete her training as a fellow in child and adolescent psychiatry. At this juncture, while providing care for adolescent patients, she established a deeper interest in trauma and mood disorders.

Dr. Land has taught several subjects at the professorial level and her background as a professor of nutrition and pathology continues to be advantageous. Notably, she tapped into her academic experience when she worked in a partial hospitalization program designed to treat patients with eating disorders and mood disorders. At this level of care, Dr. Land provided treatment for adults and children but she also has valuable experience treating adults and children in outpatient clinics and hospitals.

Dr. Land’s dedication to the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions is a result of countless experiences. She is driven by her awareness of the challenges people face despite the abundance of conveniences made available to us in our society. And she believes no one should suffer in silence. Dr. Land welcomes working with patients and their families to achieve mutual goals as she seeks to improve quality of life for as many people as possible.

Dr. Land enjoys cooking, sampling various cuisines, traveling, as well as observing and participating in the performing arts. But what she treasures most is regularly spending time with her family.
