Eric Peist, PhD

Dr. Peist is a clinical child and adolescent psychologist in the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University. He received his PhD in clinical-community psychology at DePaul University in 2021 and completed his internship training at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Peist is situated within the Mood, Anxiety, and ADHD Collaborative Care (MAACC) Program at Lurie. MAACC is a program designed to train and consult with primary care clinicians from small-to-medium-sized practices in the community to expand access to evidence-based mental health services for youth. As part of his role, he collaborates with pediatricians, community mental health providers, and families to provide timely assessments and treatment recommendations. Dr. Peist has specialization in assessment and treatment of a range of mental health diagnoses in children and adolescents including anxiety, OCD, depression, and ADHD. His clinical work emphasizes evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for treatment of anxiety and depression symptoms and parent management training (PMT) to support caregivers of children with ADHD and behavior concerns.

Dr. Peist is particularly interested in research and program development initiatives that involve integrating youth and caregiver voices into pediatric settings and behavioral health programming that has historically been developed with limited input from families. He is also involved in Lurie training programs to support the development of future child psychologists.

Kerry Brodziak, LCSW

Kerry Brodziak is a Psychiatric Social Worker in the Pritzker Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is a member of the Mood, Anxiety, ADHD Collaborative Care (MAACC) Program at Lurie’s which trains and consults with primary care clinicians to expand access to mental health treatment. Her role is to provide short-term, evidence-based therapy to youth in the MAACC Program who have diagnoses such as ADHD, ODD, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, and behavioral challenges. Kerry utilizes the Unified Protocol, a transdiagnostic evidence-based manual, to improve symptoms of anxiety, depression, and emotional regulation. She also meets directly with parents for Parent Management Training to improve the behavioral challenges often seen in youth diagnosed with ADHD and ODD. Additionally, she is a therapist in the Partners in Caring for Anxious Youth (PCAY) study, a multisite clinical trial comparing cognitive behavioral therapy alone versus cognitive behavioral therapy with medication to treat anxiety. Beyond her work with patients and their families, she hopes to expand the use of evidence-based therapy in the community by training and collaborating with community therapists.

Kerry’s background includes working in all levels of the psychiatric care system. She has experience across the US, including Boston Children’s Hospital, Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, and now Chicago. She has also worked as an integrated care social worker in a pediatric practice, and strongly believes in the collaborative care model to expand access to quality mental health care for children.
