Not Sure What Kind Of Help Your Teen Needs?

Many Homewood-Flossmoor families call us because they know something is not working, but they are not sure whether residential treatment, PHP, IOP, or outpatient care is the right next step. We will listen, ask about safety and symptoms, and help your family understand whether our Matteson adolescent residential program or another level of care may fit.

What Makes SunCloud Different

At SunCloud Health, we treat the whole person, not a diagnosis in isolation. For adolescents, that means looking at how trauma, mood, anxiety, eating patterns, substance use, school stress, family dynamics, and identity development may be interacting. Our goal is one integrated care plan, held by one coordinated team.

Integrated and transdiagnostic

Care is designed for co-occurring concerns instead of forcing a teen into separate silos for each symptom.

Trauma-informed

Our team considers what has happened to a teen, how they have coped, and what support helps them feel safe enough to heal.

Family systems work

Parents and caregivers receive support around communication, boundaries, safety planning, and the transition home.

Real-world continuity

Residential care includes planning for school, home life, outpatient providers, and the next appropriate level of care.

When A Higher Level Of Care May Be Needed

Residential treatment may be worth discussing when a teen’s symptoms are affecting safety, school attendance, family relationships, eating patterns, substance use, emotional regulation, or the ability to participate in ordinary daily life. It can also be appropriate after an inpatient stay, after repeated outpatient setbacks, or when a family needs a more structured environment than home-based support can provide.

Concerns We Commonly Treat

  • Depression, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and emotional dysregulation
  • Eating disorder symptoms including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and ARFID
  • Substance use, process addiction, screen, or gaming-related concerns
  • Self-harm behaviors, school disruption, family stress, and co-occurring diagnoses

What Families Can Expect

  • A safe, structured, supportive therapeutic environment
  • 24-hour support and a fully immersive on-campus community
  • Family involvement and planning for the return home
  • Educational coordination, continuing care, and transition planning

03

Family and Parent Support

Parents and caregivers are part of the process, with support around communication, boundaries, safety planning, and the transition home.

04

Nutrition, Education, and Daily Structure

For teens with eating disorder concerns, school disruption, or day-to-day functioning challenges, coordinated support helps treatment connect to real life.

How families move from first call to care

Admissions helps clarify what is happening now, what has already been tried, what safety concerns are present, and whether residential treatment, PHP, IOP, or outpatient care is the best next step.

  1. Talk through symptoms and safety. Share what your teen is experiencing and what level of support has or has not helped.
  2. Review the right level of care. Consider residential treatment alongside PHP, IOP, outpatient groups, and step-down planning.
  3. Plan with the family in mind. Ask about scheduling, school coordination, insurance, travel, and how care continues after discharge.

Residential care can be a turning point

When Life Feels Unmanageable, Structure Can Create Room For Change

Residential treatment is not about giving up on your child. It can be a way to give your teen enough safety, space, and support to begin doing the work that has been hard to do at home, at school, or in weekly therapy alone.

Safety firstA 24-hour setting can help stabilize the moment while the team learns what your teen needs.
More than one symptomWe look at trauma, mood, anxiety, eating patterns, substance use, family stress, and identity development together.
A bridge back to lifeResidential care should connect to step-down planning, family work, school needs, and outpatient support.
