Who We Treat at Our Matteson, IL Residential Program for Adolescent Girls

Our Matteson, Illinois residential treatment center for adolescent girls is designed for those experiencing:

  • Eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and ARFID
  • Mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder
  • Anxiety disorders including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, and OCD
  • Trauma- and stressor-related disorders including PTSD and complex trauma
  • Substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions
  • Self-harm behaviors or significant emotional dysregulation

Support for MoreThan One Disorder

While some young people may come to us with only one diagnosis, many adolescents who come to SunCloud Health are not dealing with just one condition – they are navigating co-occurring disorders, also known as dual diagnosis. This means they are experiencing two or more mental health or behavioral health conditions at the same time.

For example, a teen might have anxiety and an eating disorder, or depression and substance use disorder, or PTSD and obsessive-compulsive disorder. These conditions often interact and intensify one another, making symptoms more complicated to treat.

In traditional treatment settings, these issues are sometimes addressed separately – one provider might treat the eating disorder while another treats depression. Unfortunately, this fragmented approach can leave important connections between the conditions unaddressed. When the underlying causes or contributing factors of both conditions aren’t treated together, relapse risk increases and lasting recovery becomes harder to achieve.

At SunCloud Health, our integrated treatment model addresses all co-occurring conditions at the same time, with one coordinated care team. This means our therapists, psychiatrists, dietitians, and medical providers communicate daily, sharing insights and adjusting treatment plans in real time.

This approach ensures that:

  • We are treating the whole person, not just one diagnosis.

  • Each therapeutic intervention supports progress across all conditions.

  • Families have a single, unified treatment plan with clear goals and consistent support.

By specializing in co-occurring disorders, our residential program provides adolescent girls with the best chance at true, sustainable recovery – helping them manage symptoms, build healthy coping strategies, and move toward a brighter future.
