Welcome to Abundant Living. My name is Dr. Kim, and first and foremost, I am a child of God. I am also a wife, a stepmother, a sister, a friend and a daughter. Like many of you, I am in recovery; I am in recovery from binge-purge type anorexia, alcoholism, and trauma.
I currently serve as the CEO and Medical Director of Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, a sacred place where I have been blessed to work with an amazing staff. We help women with eating disorders, addictions, mood disorders, self-injury, trauma and many other issues.
Recently, I received an email from a former Timberline Knolls resident; she was understandably distressed about the plethora of social media sites that promote anorexia, bulimia, self-injury, substance abuse, and even suicidal acts. This newly recovered woman’s message galvanized me to begin a blog, something I had considered for quite some time. The result is Abundant Living.
My blog is not about material things, far from it. It’s about health and wellness and happiness – having an abundance of joy and spiritual well-being. It’s a reminder of who we are and what we deserve. It is designed to create a space for dialogue and interaction for women in recovery.
Abundant Living offers information and resources for women in recovery as well as their loved ones and family members. I want readers to know me on a more personal level. I will share my viewpoints on many timely topics affecting those in recovery, and I look forward to receiving input back from readers as well.
My ultimate wish is to carry a message of hope and real life recovery experiences to the hundreds of thousands of women and girls who are sisters in the journey each day. My goal is to provide inspiration, humor, connectedness and knowledge that no one in recovery is ever alone; that God is full of grace and love for each and every one of us. It is one small way I can give back to the many incredible women who have given so much to me throughout my lifetime.
