Workplace Wellness Programs at SunCloud Health’s Intensive Outpatient Program
Workplace efficiency and good mental health – often the two are seen as unrelated, despite the important challenges a person is tasked with juggling on a daily basis along with leading a fulfilling personal live. Leading mental health experts are beginning to point out that these things do not live in independent silos in our minds. They need to be thought of within the context of our overall well-being. Today’s typical workplace wellness programs cover basic medical treatments, physical therapies and gym memberships in an effort to keep employees fit and productive but many mental health experts are starting to see this is not enough to produce effective, well rounded employees and the wrong climate for developing leaders in the workplace.
“Wellness is about far more than offering the occasional onsite Weight Watchers meeting. Wellness goes beyond even providing disease management programs… for the tech company, the very concept of wellness has evolved to include all aspects of employees’ well-being—from their finances to their social life.” – Society for Human Resource Management

Advice from a leading CEO:
Harry Kraemer and 4 Principles of Value-Based Leadership
The concept of workplace wellness goes beyond physical health. Workplace stress is part of our daily lives and effects our mental and physical health and social well-being. Former Baxter CEO, Harry Kraemer explains the concept in his new books and shows that in the workplace and in life, leadership and success, personal and professional development hinges on your ability to handle today’s major stress triggers and distractions. Success is dependent on four key components he calls Value-Based Leadership: Self-reflection, Balance & perspective, true self-confidence, and genuine humility.
SunCloud Health captured Harry’s lecture as part of the inaugural speaker series titled “Sky’s the Limit”, where professional people cover topics that effect our workplace and personal challenges. There is a distinct link between Harry’s four Value-Based leadership and the 12-step recovery programs as seen in the videos below:
The ability to reflect and identify what you stand for, what your values are, and what matters most, and if what you are currently spending your time on works towards or against your goals
Balance & Perspective
The ability to see situations from multiple perspectives, including offering viewpoints, to gain a holistic understanding.
The ability to accept yourself as you are, recognizing your strengths and your weaknesses, and focusing on continuous improvement.
The ability to never forget who you are, to appreciate the value of each person and to treat everyone respectfully.
